(Warning! I'm really not in the mood to write about this game, but I'll do my best.)
Last night a listless effort from the home town Mariners lead to a 57-71 defeat at the hands of the Harvey Lakers. Credit to the Lakers who defended and rebounded hard all night and made shots when they were given the chance. The Lakers especially took advantage of their trips to the free throw line shooting 11-15, while most trips their by the Mariners ended up wasted on 7-17 shooting.
From the outset the game was sloppy and the Mariners couldn't seem to mount any sort of energy. Despite some strong individual performaces by Eric Young 14 of Fundy's first half 22, and Jarred Weston playing his heart out on the boards and hustling but only ending up with 10 points the weak team play of the Mariners was eventually their undoing.
The Mariners struggled to find ways to score all night resulting in a 38-22 deficit at half time. The 2nd half was more back and forth but neither team really managed to establish any sort of momentum over the final 20 minutes. The final was 71-57.
