Samuel de Champlain

Sam de Cham game Tuesday Night was cancelled. The game on Wednesday at home went ahead though.

The Mariners jumped out to an early lead thanks to some hot shooting hitting 3 of their first 4 threes. While the offense continued to have success, some questionable defensive rotation allowed the visiting Jaguars to stay in the game. The score at the end of the first was 24-18 for the Mariners.

The second quarter was more of the same with an early jump out for the Mariners, followed by some sloppy play late. The lead at half time was 39-31.

The 3rd quarter was almost a disaster for Mariners who only managed 6 points in the entire frame. Battling foul trouble and poor decision making, the Mariners defense held the Jaguars to 10 points in the quarter to only be down 1 heading into the final frame.

The opening minutes of the last frame were back and forth the teams exchanging hoops. Finally in the last five minutes the Mariners regained their early form to go on a quick 12 -2 run over a 3 minutes span to put the game away. The final was 69-58.

Leading scorers for the Mariners Eric Young with 15, and Ryan Gallagher and Jarred Weston each with 14. SDC responded with 12 points each from Dominic Beaulieu and Eric Ringuette.

Fundy @ Campobello

Top seeded Campobello pulled away to 20 point win over the Mariners.

The host Vikings came out flying the in first quarter to jump out to an early 30-17 to end the first. By half the game had settled down with the Mariners having a strong defensive quarter narrowing the decifit to 43 - 34.

A strong 3rd quater push the lead back into double digits for the vikings, and as the game wore on each teams subs exchanged hoops to have the game end in an 85-65 win for the home team.

Harvey vs FHS

Harvey managed to out last the Mariners in Fundy.

After a strong first hald performance highlighted by buzzer beaters at the ends of each quarter by the Mariners, they could not hang on to a five point lead throughout the 2nd half. As the game wore on foul trouble for starters and a late injury to the Mariners high scorer that game let Harvey get a late lead, and pull away once the Mariners started fouling.

Leading scorers for the Mariners were Jarred Weston with 15, Reese Gaudett 13, Ryan Gallagher 11.

Leading scorer for Harvey Chad McCann with 21.

X-mas Break

It was a roller coaster x-mas break for the Mariners. Days before the break senior and leading scorer Billy Muxworthy was removed from the team.

The Friday prior to the break the boys traveled to ESA getting an easy win.

Then came a week off followed by two tournaments in 6 days.

Fundy hosted the Holiday Mariner Cage Classic on the 29th and 30th of Dec. The six team tournament saw Fundy lose two more starters to injury and end up playing a tough schedule of Simonds, Grand Manan and Fredericton. The short handed Mariners ended up o-3 while the tournament champion was St. Stephen going 4-0 and posting wins over Grand Manan, Simonds and Campobello twice.

The final weeked of the break Fundy visited the Hartland Huskies to attend their tournament.

In the opening game Fundy had a rough first half but came on strong late to lose a tight game to Cambridge Narrows. In the evening game the Mariners faced the hosts and played their best game of the break, rolling to a 20+ point victory. In the consolation game against Miramichi Valley the Mariners showed the toll of playing with 8 players 6 times in 6 days. After a listless first half the Mariners showed pride in a second half charge to end up losing by 14.
