Varsity Boys vs SJDA

Depending on your perspective it was an amazing or very anticlimactic beginning to the Fundy High Varsity Boys basketball season.

In their season and league opener they were hosted by the nearby Sir James Dunn Algonquin. SJDA's first varsity boys team in a number of years was badly outmatched by the Mariners. Fundy's team played everyone basically equal minutes rolling lines every 2-3 minutes. Everyone put forth a solid effort and it showed in the early 33-0 first quarter score after 10 minutes.

As the game wore on the visiting Mariners did a variety of things to try to keep the game as competitive and positive as possible. Pulling their defense back to half court and trying to make extra passes offensively. This made little difference as the half time margin had grown to 53-4.

In the end the Mariners steadily pulled away despite a variety of tactics being practiced to run time off the clock. They won handily 101-10.

The next action for the Mariners will be Friday night in the Blue and White Game scrimmaging the JV team.
